Reesing is almost 2!

Reesing, a.k.a. sissy, a.k.a. Rees, a.k.a. we-we, a.k.a. Monster will be turning 2 next month.  My, where did time go?!  She has really developed a lot in the past 6 months.  She packs a lot of attitude, but has also learned how to incorporate a lot of lot with her spitfire attitude.  She loves to give hugs and kisses, but no snuggling, unless it's with her dad, then she might give him a few minutes. She was actually the first one to come, grab me tight and give me a big bear hug the other day when I had injured myself.  She's definitely learning how to care for others.

She's my little shadow.  She copies EVERYTHING I do.  Everywhere I go, she is sure to follow.  She does love her big brother.  She has a lot of favorite words, such as daddy, mommy, Manning, Hawk (interpreted Jayhawk) &  Duce.  She's even mastered some small sentences, such as "no no Mommy." "I want (fill in the blank)" &  "I love you."  There is no doubt in our minds that she will get in trouble more than once while in school for talking too much.  She is a talker and she is in repeat mode right now, so she'll see a Jayhawk and repeat no less than 30 times, "hawk, hawk, hawk...daddy, hawk....mommy, hawk, hawk, hawk...daddy, hawk....mommy, hawk. She's going through what we would like to call the "Rain Man" stage. It's rather entertaining, and often times all we can do is laugh...or cry.

Reesing's favorite letter of the alphabet right now is the letter B.  Mom and I have been working on the alphabet, sight words and spelling in general.  Every time we're working with the flashcards and it's Reesing's turn Mom and I both can put our money on Reesing's answer.  It is B every time.  I could hold up any letter of the alphabet and she calls out "B" in an excited little voice, acknowledging to herself that she nailed it.

Reesing is our comedian.  She is a little spit-fire full of laughs and always creating some kind of commotion that will always create more laughs.  She has so much energy and spunk to her and it's going to be fun watching her grow up and into her personality.  Right now she's got a really big personality, but can really only communicate in her very own "Reesing speak."

Despite the dresses and pigtails she's often wearing, she's got a lot of drive and fight in her.  She's been known to push her way into whatever she wants.  She doesn't want to be left out of anything, and she wants to be heard, seen and noticed at all times, and does a good job at accomplishing it.

She's a brave little girl.  She really has no fear and is tough as nails. Things that would normally send any other toddler off crying and running to their mommy doesn't seem to phase Reesing, and if it does it's not for very long. She's quick to shake off an injury and keep right on going, making sure that she's not missing out on anything.  She's the kid that can walk on gravel and not even winch.  She's probably going to give all the boys a run for their money. She'll probably be the girl in the lunch cafeteria at school arm wrestling the boys and walking away with all their coins and candy!

Well Reesing, your 2nd birthday is a little less than 1 month away.  Can't wait to celebrate with you lil' Sis.  Love you!

Reesing still enjoys "Bats" at night only. What's bats you ask?  Well, Bats is what Reesing calls her pacifier.  So, when she's getting tired and wanting to lay down she'll frantically call out "Bats, bats, bats, I want bats."  Now most people outside of our family would probably wonder what the heck was going on when everyone starts looking around for the suspected bats yelling, "where's bats?  I don't know where bats is? Reesing, where was bats last?"  So, now you know.

A camping we will go

This past summer I participated in two different summer camps and VBS at Kid's First.  This was a picture of my classmates in the session "A camping we will go."  We made smore's, read lots of stories and made this cool picture frame over the course of the week.  It was a lot of fun and there were several of my former classmates in the summer session with me.  Good times were had by all!

Tractor pull

A few weeks ago Mom, Dad, Reesing and I joined Grandpa Rod and went to the annual McLouth tractor pull. Let me tell you, these tractors are not your average farm tractors. They carry some serious engine power, create lots of smoke & make lots of noise. It was a blast! Dad & I went with Grandpa Rod last year, but this was Reesing & Mom's first experience & they enjoyed it.  Thanks Grandpa!  I can't wait for next year.

 It was loud!!!

Well deserved ice cream stache

I earned every bit of this ice cream stache.

Huh, you want to know how?  Well, I had my 4 year old check-up with Dr. Kelley yesterday.  Yes, I've technically 4 1/2 already, and we put off the 4 year check-up until now that it's back to school time and we have to get the proper paperwork.

I measured up at 42.75", which is in the 73rd percentile.  Doc says I'm a rather tall guy.

And I weighed in at 41 lbs., being in the 71st percentile. So, doc says that I'm proportionate.

Awesome! We're growing good. We're looking good. We're behaving good.
It can't get much better than this!

And it didn't.  Doc suggested that we go ahead and get the last round of shots required before starting kindergarten.  He said that we could wait until next year, but mom decided to just go for it.  She said, "we'll never be prepared for it b/c it's just not fun." So, we went for it & it wasn't fun.

Guess who didn't have to get any shots? The little girl who kept yelling "cheese" and posing for the camera.

It did hurt, but not as bad as I thought.  I didn't shed a tear, but whined just a little bit, uncertain of what level of pain to expect. Mom and the nurse said I did good and the best part is that the nurse said that I'm now done with shots for now and won't have to get anymore for a long long time. As a reward I got a coupon for a free ice cream cone from McDonalds.  So, we left the doctor's office and headed straight for ice cream.  Sure it was almost dinner time and it might ruin my appetite, but mom didn't care.  She was proud of what a big boy I was.

Ice cream has never tasted so good!

May the force be with you...It's Friday!

Mom, Reesing & I went to the Douglas County fair last night and had a great time.  There was not as many people as previous years and it wasn't too hot. Bonus!

We played some games & won some prizes.

Then we jumped in line for the rides. Yippee!
The motorcycles

 Motorcycles in action.

Four wheeling. Unfortunately, sis was too short this year to enjoy most of the rides. So, she had to sit on the sidelines and watch me ride. Next year we'll have a lot of run Reesing, I promise!

There were two rides that Reesing could get on, one of those being the merry-go-round. She was happy about that.

Well, maybe not.  She didn't last long on her own horse.

So, I got on my own horse...

and Mom held Reesing during the merry-go ride.

Mom and I on the merry-go-round.

This was the second ride that Reesing was able to partake in.
So, we waited in line together, but when it came down to it...she wouldn't get in the bounce house.

We made a stop at the cow barn to visit the hardworking Neis family. The Neis family has rabbits, cows & pigs in the Douglas County fair this year and have been bringing in lots of good ribbons so far.  Reesing got to get close-up to the Neis cattle and pet them.

And so did I. Thanks Kelly!

We also spent some time at the petting zoo where you could feed the animals.  We started off feeding the pig.

And then moved on to these cute little fainting goats.  They were doing much fainting, but rather begging for food.

Reesing LOVED feeding the baby goats.

Can't you tell by her smile?  She was having a great time.

Constantly had her hand out wanting more food for the baby goats.

We got to pet this camel.  He was very calm and friendly.

Reesing & I loved the petting zoo.  It was our favorite place of the night.

We visited the pig barn.  A pig's life is rough.

Hi Chickens!

And we visited next Thanksgiving's dinner.

It wouldn't be a fair would without jedi glow-in-the-dark night sticks...

And other people's tragic x-rated wardrobe choices.
