3...2...1...Let's Go!

Over the extended Memorial Day weekend my mom and dad took me out to the quarter-midget racetrack so I could get some more practice time in and around the racecar. It was a lot of fun. I've only got a few more years to go and I'll be racing!

Happy 16th birthday!!!

Yesterday was my cousin Brad's 16th birthday. Happy Birthday to you! I can't wait for you to get that license so you can take me for a ride. I'm ready as soon as you are. I hope that you had a wonderful birthday and we'll see you when you get back from your family vacation! We love you. Below is a picture of a rare Brad spotting. It's hard to snap a picture of him because 1) He's 16 and 2) He tends to be a little camera shy.

Boys will be boys

(Quick "Mother's Note"- I'm not sure what is so magnetic about boys and mud, but there is definitely something there. I challenge someone, in their spare time, to do some research and let me know why boys, from the start, are so attracted to "boy-type" things like mud. As the mother of a son, I have given in to the old saying, "Boys will be boys."

My t-shirt sums up the story to follow..."I don't have an off button."

So, at first I was testing the boundaries with my mom and dad. I discovered these awesome mud puddles and wasn't for sure how far they would let me go with my new discovery.

So, they weren't happy about me walking in the mud/water, but it was everywhere and simply hard to avoid. So, I decided to take it a step further and stand in the puddle.

Next thing I know, the water would splish splash really high when I would run through the puddle. This was a lot of fun and I was having a blast.

Soon after this my parents decided to let me do some more exploring. I convinced them to take my shoes and socks off for some important research on mud puddles.

I also quickly learned that when you throw rocks into the mud puddles that also causes a big splash.

I had learned something new and my confidence level was soaring. The rock didn't look that big at first.

Then some of my friends, who are all older than me, decided to teach me how to make REALLY big splashes. What they didn't teach me was that when someone does make a big splash - back far far away. It was a good lesson learned.

I was having fun and still had not learned how to back away from the line of fire. I didn't really mind the mud water. It did dampen my cracker a little bit, but I was hungry and wasn't going to let it go.

So, in order to get the older kids back for all the splashes they did to me, I recruited a little bit of help. We got them back good!

This was the end result...a muddy and soaking wet Manning. Some might say I don't look happy in this picture, and that is because I was not happy. Mom and dad finally called off the fun and pulled me away from the mud puddles and made me get cleaned up. This did not make me happy because all I wanted to do was continue having fun with the mud puddles.

Where's your bellybutton?

This is what you get when you ask a 16 month old where their bellybutton is. Along with the bellybutton, I can also identify where my nose, eyes and ears are. I give kisses and hugs on demand. Oh, and I can also give you knucks when you ask. I have a whole bag of tricks that I can show you the next time we hang out.

Our house is finally finished!

Well, minus new outdoor lights (haven't been picked out yet), gutters, numbers for the house and landscaping. Besides all of those things it has been lap sided all around and re-painted and looks great. My parents did most of the work, with a little help from myself, but my main job was to supervise. It was a great team effort. I'll take you on a 360 degree tour.

We've been busy

We've been busy painting our house. If you remember from last spring, my dad spent most of the spring/summer putting up new siding for our house. Now this summer my mom and dad are painting it. It's a lot of fun because I'm big enough now that I can run around the yard and play while they work.

This is the person who is most responsible for a majority of the work (yes dad, what mom does is also considered help)...my dad.

He's been working hard to get it done before the summer heat wave hits. He's picked out a pretty rad color scheme and we're all excited to see the finished product. I've posted some pre-paint pictures and will be sure to post some pictures of the house once we're all done.
