Visit to the fair

The Douglas County Fair took place a few weeks ago. My mom, dad and I made a trip out there one evening and had a great time.
I really had no interest in the chaos of the carnival. The circus groupies looked scary and there was a lot of commotion. We did stroll through the madness and check it out. I got the bird's eye view from atop my dad's shoulders.

My favorite part was the tractor pull. The "man" thing to check out while at the fair. It was fun watching all the big tractors.
I had crawled up to the top of the bleachers to check out the tractor pull and realized that I was sitting next to a big toothless redneck who was "very" into the tractor pull. I couldn't quite figure him out. He was a very interesting man. Dad and I got to look at some of the tractors up close. This Moline was one of my favorites.

On to the cows...another big highlight of mine. We all found it humorous that the sign to the old ball field where a lot of the cows were kept stated "Animals prohibited on field." We first met this cow. He was a very nice cow and I was very interesting in getting to know him a little better.

No such luck. This cow was keeping his distance.
More cows.
You can find these things called "cow patties" everywhere. It's like a treasure hunt, just not so much of a treasure.

Then we went into the cow barn to check out the only cows we knew on a personal level, and also our favorites, the cows from Neis Farms. As you can see, Tracy's cow is named "Milky Way" and Brett's is named "Bud".
Here is a picture of Milky Way and Bud. We were unable to take a picture of Travis' cow. Maybe next time. Anyways, we had a great evening and got to see lots of great things. I was a lot of fun.

Pics from July 4th

A little late, but better late than never. We enjoyed a fun 4th of July. We were invited to join the Neis family for their annual 4th of July bash. It was a great time. My friend Preston, and his parents joined us for the festivities. We enjoyed lots of great food, drinks, endless fireworks and lots of great socializing. Thanks Kelly and family for the good time.

Kelly bought a pinata for the kids. She got the party started and gave lessons on the proper way of demolishing the pinata.

Manning took some good swings at it.

Doug helped Alexus take some good shots at it. At first all of the kids were so gentle with it. The adults were encouraging them to be more aggressive. Then they started to get the hang of it. The hits got harder.
The crowd began to gather.

The Ediger family.
Dad and I having fun and sharing some good laughs.

The dads in "awe" of the explosions taking place up in the sky.
My buddy Preston found some candy he REALLY liked.
Kathy and Alexus watching the fireworks and enjoying some candy from the pinata.
Jason and I hanging out. You can barely see us through all of the smoke from fireworks.
